Killer Frequency

Killer Frequency is a single-player narrative game, the player is the host of a late-night talk show in 1980 small-town America. Alongside normal DJ roleplay, the player must help callers survive a serial killer, that stalking the town. The game features a rich narrative, branching dialogue, a full cast of voice artists, puzzles, and a complex mystery to investigate.

 

It was developed in the Unity Engine.

The game is due to be released on VR for meta quest and traditional flat-screen formats for console and PC.

Responsibilities

  • Narrative Design

    • Writing scenes and dialogue

    • Ensuring Narrative consistency

    • Puzzle creation and feedback

  • Tutorialisation - onboarding, help text and objectives.

  • VR implementation

    • Refining VR controls​ & Interactions

    • Upholding consistent design language to telegraph interactivity

    • Implementing new mechanics

    • Researching usability consideration

  • Visual scripting

    • Building the narrative structure

    • Creating complex systems to check facts and logic based on player decisions and actions

  • UI/UX - Adjusting ​colour placement and content of UI

  • VO direction - Overseeing direction of VO recordings

  • Audio Design

    • Adjusting music to increase tension and build atmosphere​

    • Adding foley to key cut scenes and events

    • Defining additional SFX-based storytelling requirements
